Black Truffle Pizza

A few friends from San Francisco were in town and I left it up to them to pick a new and exciting place to eat for lunch since they weren't going along with my plan to go to the beloved Gyu Kaku and stuff our faces with Japanese BBQ. After consulting the trusty Yelp.com they came across Cube Marketplace on La Brea and Melrose which got great reviews. So we went, why not?

Very cute place and interesting menu. We ended up ordering a gigantic artichoke as an appetizer (literally the size of a todler's biking helmet) and the black truffle pizza (w/ mozzarella and egg) for an entree. No, black truffle is not some kind of chocolate candy. It is a kind of mushroom that is very hard to come by and after seeing chef after chef use it on the Food Network I finally got to try this little fungus for myself. Two thumbs up! The pizza was amazing and nothing like anything I've ever had before! I can't wait to go back to cube and try other things on their menu.
